Sauchmore Cottage is a delightful countryside cottage set amidst gorgeous scenery on the beautiful Dalmunzie Estate in the Spittal of Glenshee, Perthshire.

This cosy cottage is very well placed for discovering the delights of the local area and makes a very welcome retreat to come back to after days spent outdoors exploring.
A wood-burning stove at the heart of the sitting room warms everything through and there is also a handy dining area that has been set up by the large picture windows to make the most of the views. A French door leads out to the garden and floods the room with light.
The kitchen is very well-equipped and has a handy drying rack for wet clothes, etc. There are such lovely views to admire from the window that you may be tempted to linger over the washing up rather than making use of the dishwasher.
There is a spacious double bedroom downstairs and upstairs are two attractive twin bedrooms that both have impressive vistas to enjoy.
Walkers and hill climbers will love the varied terrain of the countryside on the extensive estate and there are herds of deer and other wildlife to spot along the way.
Passing nearby at Spittal of Glenshee (2 miles) is the Cateran Trail walking route. As well as the waymarked trail it also has a special GeoTrail for those interested in geocaching. There are 20 caches to find on the trail and each one has a points value that when added up can be traded in for a collectable geocoin.
Hit the slopes to ski or snowboard at the Glenshee resort (7 miles) or, for the months when snow is less likely to be found, there is also a cross mountain biking trail accessed by a chairlift that makes light work of the 2,998 foot ascent.
For further exploration of the surrounding mountains Mountain Summits near Kirkmichael (10 miles) offer guided walks, mountain guiding and navigation and mountain skills instruction. They can also help people get in some munro bagging.
The popular town of Pitlochry (10 miles) is just under an hour’s drive away with lots of interesting shops to wander around. Whisky lovers will enjoy visiting the Blair Athol Distillery for a tour or tasting session and the 18 hole golf course in the town is particularly picturesque for a round of golf followed by a meal in the clubhouse.
In the autumn each year Faskally forest near Pitlochry is transformed into an amazing sound and light show that is quite a spectacle to witness – tickets book up quite quickly so it is well worth planning ahead.

Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. Electricity is INCLUDED. Heating is by oil central heating (INCLUDED) and wood-burning stove (generous starter pack of logs INCLUDED). WiFi is INCLUDED (subject to a fair usage policy) and is available in the WiFi lounge on the estate. Water is from a private source which is regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can become discoloured, particularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. A maximum of 3 dogs is welcome at an additional charge (3 large, 3 medium, 3 small). If you wish to bring any other pets, please contact us and we will see what we can do. No smoking.
