The house’s wonderful setting can be appreciated even as you approach and the first thing that strikes you on entering is how incredibly spacious and light it is throughout. Lovely large windows in the sitting room showcase the wonderful views and the open fire is great to curl up in front of after busy days spent outdoors. There is also a separate TV room to spread out into should viewing tastes differ. In the bright sunroom there are large windows on three sides making it the perfect place to unwind and really take in your amazing surroundings.
Double height windows in the open plan kitchen/dining room at the heart of the house flood the room with light and there is room for everyone to eat together at the vast dining table. The kitchen area is particularly well-equipped for cooking for a big group with a large range cooker, walk-in larder and huge American style fridge freezer.
If the weather isn’t so good then the garage houses both table football and a table tennis table that are sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike.
Upstairs the master suite enjoys some of the very best views from its Juliet balcony that can even be admired from the comfort of bed. There are three further attractive double bedrooms (king-size) and three twin rooms that make use of two bathrooms and a downstairs shower room.
Gorgeous views out over Ben Gulabin can be enjoyed from the garden and there is a small lochan within the grounds so care should be taken, particularly with children. There is walking straight from the door with around 6,500 acres of countryside to roam with stalking and even a 9 hole golf course within the estate.
Guests are absolutely encouraged to pop into the nearby Dalmunzie Castle Hotel (0.5 miles) for a drink, a spot of lunch, or book a table for dinner.
Braemar (16 miles) is a very pretty little village with a small supermarket and some interesting little independent shops. You can even pick up kilts and sporrans and there are several excellent eateries to sample.
Snowsport enthusiasts will love the Glenshee ski resort (7 miles) where the extensive slopes just beg to be explored and there is also a blue-graded downhill mountain biking track that is accessed by chair lift.
Just an hour’s drive away is picturesque Pitlochry that is home to a superb festival theatre and an impressive fish ladder that helps salmon negotiate the dam.
A bit further on from Pitlochry is Blair Atholl that is famous for the international horse trials that are held annually in the grounds of Blair Castle attracting visitors from all over the world. A truly unique way to take in the sprawling grounds of the castle is by taking a Segway tour for an experience never to forget.
There are plenty of other activities to try out within the rest of the Cairngorms National Park with walking, mountain biking, canoeing, white water rafting and river tubing to name but a few.
