Overview

This Victorian house has been extended and refurbished in order to create a warm and inviting base for exploring the surrounding countryside. Relax around the wood-burning stove in the sitting room or sit and enjoy the peace in the bright, semi-circular garden room that also has a wood-burning stove, full length windows that frame the view of the garden and seating that is positioned perfectly for admiring it.

The huge dining kitchen at the heart of the house is a great space for preparing meals in style with both an Aga and an electric cooker to choose from and a huge dining table for everyone to gather and eat together at. Off the kitchen are a snug and a utility room with laundry facilities and lots of storage space.

A twin bedroom with a dressing room and an en suite shower room is set out downstairs and upstairs the other bedrooms lie off a spacious landing where there is a little office area that is the ideal place to sit and read a book. There are two double bedrooms (one en suite and one king-size) and two further twin rooms that make use of the family bathroom.

Landscaped gardens surround the house and extend to over 1.5 acres with lots of mature plants and trees that provide shelter and seclusion. A particularly attractive feature of the garden is the south-facing sun terrace with seating and more views out across the Tay Valley.

Map & Local

The golf club in Grandtully (1.5 miles) welcomes visitors to enjoy a round on its charming, 18 hole course and supplies can be bought at the village shop or local supermarket.

There are also two good restaurants to choose from that both serve fresh local produce and the chocolatier’s world famous truffles are a must to sample alongside a drink in its café.

Thrill seekers will love the various outdoor activities that are available through Freespirits in Grandtully and Nae Limits in Ballinluig (4 miles) with white water rafting, cliff jumping, abseiling, canyoning, quad biking and bungee jumping to test your mettle.

Horse trekking is on offer from the stables on the Mains of Taymouth Estate (13 miles) and a good stop off on the way there is a visit to Castle Menzies (7.5 miles), the impressive 16th century seat of the Clan Menzies.

Pitlochry (8 miles) is known for its Festival Theatre that puts on a superb programme of productions and the fascinating fish ladder that helps salmon negotiate the Hydroelectric Dam on the River Tummel. There are some interesting shops to look around and whisky lovers are spoilt for choice as there are tours and tastings at the Blair Athol Distillery on the outskirts of Pitlochry or the Edradour Distillery just a couple of miles out of the town.

With the A9 under 10 minutes’ drive away, touring around the rest of Perthshire and even to the Highlands to the north is easily achievable.
