Delagyle Lodge is a traditional retreat blending cosy living with serene rural views. The expansive lodge boasts striking blue accents externally, including charming blue double doors next to a stylish Scots Baronial-inspired roof.
The kitchen is well-equipped and spacious, offering plenty of room for cooking a morning fry-up or a simple evening meal.
Leading off the kitchen, you’re soon welcomed by a utility space with ample facilities, a larder, drying cupboard, and extra space in the form of the garage; as such, there’s plenty of room to store outdoor equipment for countryside adventures.
The open-plan sitting and dining room features bright colours influenced by the Grampian Highlands and an open fire, keeping the room extra cosy. This room also features Welsh dressers, a large dining table, and plenty of space to relax by the fire. Also on the ground floor is a neat WC.
Upstairs, two double bedrooms with king-size beds and two twin bedrooms are available to guests. Each bedroom has fitted wardrobes and ample storage. The two king-size rooms come with a handy ensuite including a bath with a shower over. Also on the first floor, there are two additional bathrooms with a WC to serve guests upstairs.
From the open-plan area, two sets of French doors lead into the garden space, opening the room to stunning views. The garden is enclosed and secure for letting pets wander and provided outdoor seating is ideal for dining al fresco or perching as you listen to the Spey rushing past. Also outdoors, there’s plenty of parking adjacent to Delagyle Lodge.
Delagyle Lodge’s excellent placement adjacent to the River Spey means there are lovely Riverside walks to embark on. The old railway, which is now the Speyside Way, provides a link into Aberlour. This route extends along the Strath, linking a multitude of distilleries to the house. As such, Delagyle is perfectly placed to follow the Speyside Whisky Trail featuring Cardhu, Glenfiddich, Glen Grant and Glenlivet for brilliant whisky experiences, or stay closer to home and try out Aberlour Distillery (approx. 1.6 miles).
Heading into the centre of Charlestown of Aberlour (approx. 2 miles), take a walk down to the brilliant Linn Falls, passed Aberlour distillery, then finishing at the waterfall, with a small pool, perfect for a quick dip. Visit Spey valley in the hills above Aberlour to Elchies, where you can meet goats and sheep, have a farm tour or visit the shop and take-home products made by the locals.
Ballindalloch Castle and Gardens (approx. 6.6 miles) is a must visit during your stay at Delagyle, the gardens of the castle border the River Spey, River Avon and the Bridge of Avon, watch the roe deer on the riverbanks and spot wandering red squirrels. Find one of the multiple walks on the grounds or take the kids to the playground, or for a ride in the little tractors and diggers. More castles can be found around the area, like the 15th-century castle ruins at Auchindoun (10 miles) and the 13th century ruins of Balvenie Castle (around 7 miles).
Reset at The Gather’n in the village for a cosy interior, delicious food and a cuppa. Dine in at the popular The Mash Tun for a brilliant meal or pack a picnic and bring the family to Dufftown Fairy Village (9 miles). Hike to the peak of nearby Ben Rinnes (approx. 12 miles) and find Speyside Viewpoint.
23 miles north are the stunning sandy bays at Lossiemouth East Beach. While you’re in Lossiemouth, play a round at the links golf course, Moray Golf Club, then make your way home to Delagyle for a cosy evening by the fire.
