Overview

Cascade Cabin not only offers a relaxing base to return to after exploring the Scottish Highlands, but welcome additions include, a private wood-fired hot tub to rewarm in after a chilly day exploring, a wood-burning stove to coorie in next to or, outdoors, a hanging cocoon chair to listen to the running stream while you indulge in a new book.

On entering, you’re welcomed by the spacious open plan living area. On the immediate left, there’s a cupboard to store your coats and shoes. The wood-burner, accompanied by plenty of seating and a well-equipped kitchen, will have you perfectly warm and content, either cosied up on the sofa looking out to the peaceful woodland surroundings or cooking up a delicious meal on a frosty night.

Passed the entrance door, to the left, is a smart shower room with a waterfall shower and ample storage. Return to your cosy double bedroom in Cascade, elegantly decorated with a tartan carpet and the unique benefit of wonderful views of the surrounding woodland.

Outside Cascade, there’s ample external seating for dining alfresco or soaking in the morning air. A hanging chair hovers adjacent to the front door and is ideal for nestling in to hear the birds singing in the morning or the stream running by below the cottage. The entire property is enclosed, as well as the garden, making it safe and suitable for letting dogs out to roam and play.

Bask in the countryside and among woodland, looking towards the hills that surround the great Ben Wyvis. Cascade Cabin is the perfect peaceful getaway for nature lovers looking for a restorative adventure in the Scottish Highlands.

Map & Local

Birdwatchers, keen hikers and those in search of peaceful seclusion can escape to Cascade Cabin to explore Ross & Cromarty in the beautiful Scottish Highlands.

Pop into the centre of Strathpeffer and wander the Victorian Spa village riddled with grand architecture and natural springs. Walk through the Contin woods, where you can stop to watch the wild salmon leap at Rogie Falls (6 miles) and find the suspension bridge. Explore Blackmuir Wood or walk along the Cat’s Back (Knockfarrel ridge) to Knockfarrel, where you will find magnificent views of Ben Wyvis.

Discover the history of the sculptures of Garry, The Norns and Brahan Seer, The Eagle Stone - a Pictish stone dating back to around 400/500AD- or the moving sentiment behind The Friendship Stone.

Bird enthusiasts have lots to look out for, including Red Kites and Black Grouse. At Loch Kinellan, find the Slavonian grebes or keep your eyes peeled for Scottish wildcats. More wildlife awaits at Chanonry Point, where, during a rising tide, you’re likely to find dolphins. Tackle the region's highest mountain, Ben Wyvis in Easter Ross, or take a light stroll around the nearby Loch Ussie.

In January, many gather in Strathpeffer for the 24-hour mountain-bike endurance event held each year. However, The Far North Way is available to tackle all year round, part of which goes from Inverness up to Cromarty, past the beautiful farmlands on The Black Isle peninsula and scenic views over the Moray and Cromarty firths.

Have a round at the Strathpeffer 18-hole golf course (2 miles). Travel just under 20 miles for the amenities in Inverness or further out to Cawdor Castle (31 miles), open seasonally and discover the grand history of the castle and its grounds.

Make a pit stop at Unwined Cafe and Wine Bar (1.6 miles) for a sweet treat or cosy cuppa. Grab a bite at The Storehouse (9 miles) on the shores of Cromarty Firth with majestic views over to the Black Isle. If you’re in a rush, grab some tablet to take away or order one of their many hampers. Refuel at eco-friendly Highland Farm Cafe (6.3 miles) after a brisk walk or quick cycle. The cafe offers delicious food and a friendly atmosphere. Try the Deli In The Square (1.6 miles) for delicious Scottish treats like Cullen Skink and Haggis Bon Bons.

Whether you’re choosing to adventure in the Highlands or simply perched in your hanging chair listening to the adjacent Achterneed Burn, Cascade Cabin offers a charming space to enjoy it from.
