Tree Tops is a very stylish, contemporary house that has the advantage of occupying a peaceful, secluded spot, whilst having easy access to the bustling town of Hawick in the wonderful Scottish Borders countryside.

The house is very chic throughout with huge picture windows that flood the whole place with light. In the sitting room the comfy L-shaped seating has been positioned to benefit from the warming wood-burning stove and there is a TV area at the other end of the room. Sliding doors lead through to the kitchen/dining room and these can be kept open for more of an open plan feel.
The airy kitchen has plenty of room for cooking, with a bright dining area alongside and a breakfast bar with further seating so you can keep the nominated cook company. Just off the kitchen is a handy utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The living accommodation is all set out on the first floor with steps that lead up to the three attractive bedrooms. The luxurious master double suite is spacious and light with a lovely en suite shower room and the added bonus of a little dressing room. There is also a second double bedroom and a twin room that share a modern bathroom.
Outside is a covered south-facing patio area with seating from which to admire the extensive garden that is, rather unsurprisingly due to the house’s name, surrounded by trees that provide privacy. The railings around the raised patio are fairly open and the garden slopes quite steeply so care should be taken with children and pets.
Just a short walk away from the house is Wilton Lodge Park set on the banks of the River Teviot with over 100 acres of forest walks with a walled garden, scented garden and waterfall – there is even a wishing well and an interesting museum and art gallery.
Hawick is very well catered for in terms of shops, supermarkets, pubs and eateries all of which are in easy walking distance. There is also a leisure centre with a large swimming pool if you fancy a refreshing dip. Heart of Hawick is home to a heritage hub and tourist information centre and a textile towerhouse museum opposite. There is also a café and cinema there, as well as live weekly music performances.
The Hawick Angling Club offers day tickets for fishing in three nearby lochs – Williestruther loch (3 miles) and Acreknowe Reservoir (4 miles) that are stocked with rainbow trout and Barnes Loch (5 miles) where you can fish for brown trout.
Selkirk (11.5 miles) has a rich history in the textiles industry and you can take a mill tour or buy some tartan or knitwear at the Lochcarron of Scotland Visitor Centre. Just outside Selkirk the Philiphaugh Salmon Viewing Centre (13 miles) has interactive video displays of the salmon negotiating the Ettrick river and an exhibition explaining the lifecycle of the fish.
Cycle hire is available in Hawick so you can get out exploring on two wheels and perhaps try the dedicated mountain bike trails at Craik Forest (12.5 miles). If golf is your game then there is a golf course in Hawick and another at Minto (7 miles). Watersports enthusiasts will enjoy Kielder Water and Forest Park just under an hour’s drive away where you can canoe, kayak, sail and water ski on a huge man-made lake or enjoy picturesque walks in the park.
