Eigg Cottage is one of Drummore’s pretty, semi-detached fishing cottages that occupies a superb spot just yards from the sea on the Rhins of Galloway peninsula, with a stunning view across the expanse of Luce Bay to the Galloway coast and hills beyond.

The cottage has recently been refurbished to create a real ‘home from home’ where comfort and style have been perfectly combined. In the sitting room at the heart of the house a multi-fuel stove creates a warm, welcoming ambience and ensures cosiness no matter what the weather. The kitchen is partly open to the sitting room and is well-equipped with all appliances needed with the dining table just alongside for added convenience.
Everything is all on one level with the two attractive bedrooms, a double and a twin, and a family bathroom with a bath and shower over to complete the charming accommodation.
Outside, the extensive, south-facing grassed garden has a lovely patio area that is set up for al fresco dining or barbequing. Ample, off road parking is provided at the back of the house and an outdoor tap has been thoughtfully provided that is handy for washing off sandy paws after enjoyable dog walks. Bikes can be securely stored in the tiled utility room.
Ideal for holiday makers, families, walkers, cyclists or those in need of a short break, the mild gulf stream climate makes Drummore a great holiday destination all year round.
Drummore itself is a quiet village with a shop, a choice of pubs and a café/seafood restaurant all within easy walking distance and that gorgeous beach just across the road which is one of many dotted along the coast of the peninsula.
A wealth of different activities can be tried out in this area with everything from walking and cycling to fishing and golf and even the chance to walk an alpaca along nearby Sandhead beach which is an experience not to be forgotten!
Just a short drive away, the RSPB Mull of Galloway Nature Reserve at the Mull of Galloway lighthouse (5.5 miles) has a great café and amazing sea views as well as a huge array of sea birds including kittiwakes, guillemots and even puffins at the right time of year.
The charming village of Portpatrick clustered around its harbour has lots of great places to eat, interesting independent shops and a mini golf course that children and adults alike are sure to love. It is also the starting point of the Southern Upland Way long distance walking route.
In Stranraer (17 miles) the Castle Kennedy Gardens are a real ‘must visit’ with 75 acres of glorious gardens and woodland to wander around. From the Cairnryan port within the town it is possible to take a day trip over to Belfast in Northern Ireland to take in the history at the Titanic Quarter or head further north to see the amazing Giant’s Causeway on the County Antrim coast.
