This charming 19th century terraced cottage is right in the heart of Garlieston overlooking the village green to the front and just 200 yards from the nearest shop and pub. You can park right outside the door and there is an extensive enclosed garden to the rear.
The comfortable and snug living room has traditional wooden beams and a lovely ornate fireplace with open fire. There is a TV and DVD player, but much more likely to be watched are the ever-changing sea views out of the windows. Double doors then lead through to a superb sunroom that has French doors out to the garden, so you can really 'bring the outdoors in'.
The large contemporary kitchen is well-equipped, with a gas hob and electric oven. The dining area again has wooden beams and there is plenty of room for six people to dine. There is also a downstairs WC that is useful for those with limited mobility.
Upstairs there is a spacious double bedroom with king-size bed and en suite shower room, again with those wonderful sea views. There is a further bright double bedroom and a cosy twin room overlooking the garden, which is ideal for children. A smart, modern family bathroom with bath and shower over completes the accommodation.
The garden has a gravelled area with paved patio (with furniture) and even its very own palm tree! Following through from that is an extensive enclosed grass area that is perfect for children to play in.
Garlieston itself has a shop, pub, post office and a great beach just outside the cottage, with fishing available.
Isle of Whithorn (4 miles) and Wigtown (5 miles) are the places to go if you are looking for restaurants, although the village pub also serves excellent bar meals. Wigtown is actually Scotland's national book town, with 20 different book-related businesses situated there, as well as being home to an annual book festival.
There is a golf course at Wigtown and Newton Stewart (9 miles) has a swimming pool and riding stables. The Galloway Forest Park (10 miles) covers some 373 square miles of unspoilt woodland with walking trails for people of differing abilities. The park has been declared a 'Dark Sky Park' and is the first in the UK. The inky black skies at night there are incredibly popular with astronomers and shooting stars are often spotted, even without the aid of a telescope.
Mountain bikers are well catered for at one of the 7stanes mountain biking trail centres at Kirroughtree (17 miles). It has a skills area for warming up and trails of varying difficulties, including a red grade looping route called 'The Twister'. There is bike hire and bike washing facilities at the centre, as well as a workshop that can make repairs on site.
Stranraer (32 miles) has a water adventure park and a range of water sports. There are many gardens open to the public nearby, including Castle Kennedy, Logan and Glenwhan.
