The cottage has magnificent views out over Kentallen Bay and has been thoroughly refurbished to a very high standard throughout. The open plan sitting/dining room has a wood-burning stove at is heart that sits in a novel central island that allows it to be enjoyed from both sides. There is a large comfy seating area on one side and on the other further seating around the stove and a smart dining area with lovely views out over the water.
The spacious, well-equipped kitchen has a large range cooker and plenty of space for cooking and food preparation, with a breakfasting area alongside. It is supplemented by a useful utility room that houses the laundry facilities and there is also a handy downstairs bathroom off the welcoming entrance hallway.
Upstairs are four bright and attractively presented double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a super king-size bed and a modern en suite shower room with large walk-in shower, while the other bedrooms share an additional elegant shower room.
Outside, parking is right by the door and to the side of the house is a patio area (furniture) with a magnificent outlook across the waters of Loch Linnhe to the hills beyond. It is the ideal place to enjoy al fresco meals whilst admiring the view and watching the sheep grazing nearby.
The Ardsheal Estate is a large, secluded country estate with wild hillsides, pretty woodland and stretches of Loch Linnhe’s shore that just beg to be explored.
Sea kayaking or canoeing is available on the loch which is a great way of taking in the amazing scenery. Otters, seals and dolphins are often seen out in the water and golden eagles have been spotted soaring in the skies above. There is walking all around the estate or for more of a challenge there are several munros and corbetts in the surrounding area that can be tackled.
The hotel restaurant and bar in Kentallen is in walking distance and the nearest supermarket can be found in Ballachulish (7.5 miles). Glencoe village (8 miles) has a small shop and café, as well as an interesting little Folk Museum that provides an insight into local history. The Glencoe Mountain Resort (21 miles) is known for its skiing and snowboarding in winter and mountain biking in the summer (bike hire available in Ballachulish). Fort William (18.5 miles), with its wide range of shops and eateries, is only half an hour’s drive away.
Heading south from the estate the Lettershuna Riding Centre (9 miles) offers riding and pony trekking and you can even ride around the famous, and very well photographed, Castle Stalker (10 miles) when the tide is just right.
Passenger ferries run from the harbour in Port Appin (13.5 miles) across to the Isle of Lismore, which is known for its fertile soil and array of unusual flora and fauna. The journey only takes 10 minutes so it is ideal for day trips and bikes can be taken over for free. There is a network of foot paths which run around the island for those exploring on foot, although cars can also be taken across on the ferry from Oban (28 miles).
