Set up perfectly just for two, this traditional cottage has been thoroughly refurbished and decorated in relaxing muted tones that give it a warm, inviting feeling as soon as you enter.
The charming sitting/dining room is the heart of the house with its loch view, original wooden beamed ceiling and wood-burning stove to toast your toes in front of. The little dining area is perfect for enjoying romantic meals and the neat, modern kitchen is partly open to the sitting room.
The accommodation is all laid out on one level with an attractive double bedroom and a spacious, contemporary shower room with walk-in shower that are kept cosy throughout by underfloor heating.
A private parking area lies just to the side of the cottage and on the other side the pretty elevated patio area has seating from which to admire the loch and the boats bobbing out in the bay.
There is fishing right on the loch shores and canoes and kayaks can be launched from there. Plenty of walks are available within the estate and it is just a short stroll round the bay to the hotel restaurant/bar in Kentallen village that specialises in seafood and also serves excellent bar meals.
The Dragon’s Tooth Estate (3.5 miles) has a 18-hole golf course set by the loch with visitor passes available, or you can try archery, laser clay pigeon shooting or even a Segway tour around the estate.
Ballachulish (6 miles) is the place for supermarket shopping and there are daily boat trips that run out from the harbour there with the choice of wildlife spotting trips, fishing expeditions and fast boat trips that really blow the cobwebs off!
Winter sports enthusiasts will enjoy skiing and snowboarding at the Glencoe Mountain Resort just half an hour’s drive away and in the summer months the ski lifts are made good use of for downhill mountain biking (bike hire available).
Hill climbers will find plenty of corbetts and munros to ‘bag’ in the surrounding area or for a real challenge cross over the Ballachulish Bridge to take on the imposing Ben Nevis (24 miles), the highest mountain in Britain. Before tackling it, it is well worth stopping off at the Glen Nevis Visitor Centre for walking advice and the most up-to-date information on conditions on the mountain.
Fort William (17 miles) is a great spot for some retail therapy with some interesting little shops to explore and the West Highland Museum offers history enthusiasts a fascinating insight into the history of Fort William and Lochaber.
There is riding and pony trekking from Lettershuna Riding Centre (8 miles) with the opportunity to ride right around the iconic Castle Stalker itself, when the tide allows. The Isle of Lismore is a great destination for a day trip with passenger ferries running across from Port Appin (12 miles) and crossings taking only 10 minutes. This tranquil island has a rich history and there are guided Land Rover tours available so you can explore as much of the island as possible.
