Glenceitlein Cottage sits all on its own in a private, secluded spot amid the spectacular scenery of Glen Etive, on the Dalness country estate just 14 miles from the Glencoe Mountain resort.

The cottage would have originally been a shepherd’s cottage which has been completely renovated and refurbished to create a warm, welcoming getaway where you can really ‘get away from it all’. The cosy sitting room has a wood-burning stove at its centre and comfy seating around it that is ideal to curl up on after a day spent out exploring. There is also a dining area alongside and the room is also partly open to the neat kitchen area. Although there is no television signal in the cottage due to the remote location, there is a good supply of books and board games.
All on one level there are two bedrooms, a double room with king-size bed and a twin room (can be pushed together to make a double), a family bathroom and a heated porch that is ideal for storing muddy boots and drying coats, etc.
The cottage sits in a rough grassed open garden with parking right alongside and deer roaming freely in the surrounding countryside. There is a seating area just outside the cottage that is a perfect spot to sit and admire the magnificent views out over River Etive to the hills beyond.
Please note: The cottage is reached by a gated entrance and a mile of rough single track road. The last section of road should be driven slowly and carefully and may not be suitable for low slung vehicles. Guests can park on the main road and walk from there if preferred, which takes around 20 minutes.
Private fishing is available on the River Etive a short walk away, or in Loch Etive (3 miles) and hill walking, kayaking and photography lessons can be arranged through the estate.
There are walks all over the surrounding countryside and with 5 munros within the estate, there are plenty of opportunities for munro ‘bagging’. You could even try tackling the imposing Buachaille Etive Mor mountain at the head of Glen Etive, or simply soak in the beautiful surroundings, some of which film fans may recognise from scenes in the James Bond film Skyfall.
Thrill seekers can try white water rafting or extreme kayaking on River Etive, although it is certainly not for the faint hearted with lots of rushing rapids and plenty of drops!
There is a little Folk Museum (March – October) in a thatched cottage in Glencoe village (22 miles) that has interesting artefacts and exhibits on the history of Glencoe. The Glencoe Visitor Centre also has historical displays, as well as a café and plenty of information on the local area. Ballachulish (23 miles) has a couple of little shops, a supermarket, a PO and a café. It also has a golf course, a watersports centre offering kayak and boat hire and wildlife and fishing boat trips that run out on Loch Leven.
The Glencoe Mountain Resort (14 miles) offers skiing and snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking trails in the summer months.
Fort William (38 miles) has a wide range of shops and eateries and is also the place to stock up on supermarket supplies. From Fort William you can take the Jacobite steam train all the way to Mallaig, crossing over the famous Glenfinnan viaduct en route.

If its remoteness you want in a very traditional Scottish crofters cottage it doesn't get any better than this.
