Ena’s Cottage is tucked away up a private road on the remote 7,000 acre Drimnin Estate, with beautiful views out over the Sound of Mull in Argyll.

Drimnin House, the historic laird's house of the estate to which Ena’s is attached, dates right back to the 18th century and the cottage was named after their last resident housekeeper whose home it once was.
The cottage has been completely restored whilst still retaining its original character. The cosy half wood-panelled sitting room has comfortable seating in front of the wood-burning stove that is perfect to curl up on after a day’s exploring.
The kitchen is well-equipped and even has a dishwasher so there are no arguments over whose turn it is to wash up. It also has a handy little dining area. A bathroom with a bath and shower over completes the downstairs accommodation.
Upstairs there are two pleasantly presented bedrooms, a double and a twin. Both bedrooms have slightly coombed ceilings and lovely views out across the pretty garden.
Outside there is parking right at the door and guests have access to the Victorian knot garden (with furniture) at the rear, which is the ideal place to relax and take in the stunning views of the Sound, out to Mull and the Atlantic ocean beyond. Guests also have access to a games room that is equipped with a table tennis table, dartboard and a selection of exercise equipment, making it the perfect place to spend an afternoon if the weather isn't so good. The games room is situated in an outbuilding to the side of Achleanan Farmhouse (approx 0.5 miles away).
Peace and quiet and total relaxation are the order of the day at this delightful spot. The cottage is surrounded by ancient woodlands of beech, oak, pine, birch and elm, and is only half a mile from the sea.
The Drimnin Estate is home to a variety of wildlife including Scottish Blackface sheep, Galloway and Highland cattle and roe and red deer. Golden and sea eagles, pine martens and otters can all be seen.
Guests have access to the Estate's 8 miles of coastline, as well as its moors, valleys and native woodland and there are a wide range of lovely walks within the Estate - over hills, along the private track to Loch Sunart and around the coast. There is also a Stone Age fort and ancient villages, one of which is notably walled - these are a stark reminder of the most harrowing events during the Clearances.
The 6 mile private track to Doirlinn makes for one of the most spectacular bike rides in Scotland and mountain bikes are available to hire. There is also permit and rod hire for brown trout fishing in two well-stocked hill lochs, which offer seclusion and stunning views.
A ferry plies back and forth between Lochaline (11 miles, with hotel and restaurant) and Fishnish on Mull every day (no booking necessary). The local passenger ferry from Drimnin across to Tobermory on Mull runs weekly in the summer (bookable in advance). It is a great boat trip that offers a day out around Tobermory and dogs can go too!
