Arriving at high tide at this beautiful cottage in its unique picture-book setting on Loch Sunart, some 28 miles south of Fort William, you may well feel that you have arrived on your own private island!

Water surrounds its pretty garden on three sides, with a private access bridge which takes your car right to the door across the Allt Eachain Burn from the A861 single track road.
The cottage has magnificent views across Loch Sunart and there can be few more pleasant and peaceful places on earth to wile away a sunny afternoon than sitting in the garden, right on the lochside, looking out for seals and otters, admiring the stunning scenery round about, or delving into a favourite book. The children can run wild in total freedom, playing on the shore and in the safety of the garden.
The cottage is just as spectacular as its setting. The owners have completely restructured it so that what was once a homely little dwelling has trebled in size and definitely has the wow factor! The expansive open plan living area is wonderfully spacious and light, with large windows galore. The seating area has comfortable seating round the open fire and French doors out to a decked seating area (with furniture), so with the doors open you can really ‘bring the outside in’. The spacious dining area has another set of French doors out to the deck and leads through to the well-equipped kitchen area. It is the perfect layout for convivial evening meals.
A handy, spacious utility room houses the laundry facilities and there is also an additional sunny garden room, from which you can enjoy the ever-changing views, even when the weather is less than perfect. It even has a table football table for those rainy days.
All on one level there are four bedrooms, two doubles and two rooms. If the living accommodation is stunning, the bedrooms are no less appealing. All of them are large and bright, with attractive and carefully coordinated soft furnishings, while the large windows ensure that they are pleasantly light and that there is no chance of forgetting your lovely surroundings. It rather goes without saying that the two bathrooms are just as elegant and up to date as the rest of the house.
Bunallt Eachain provides comfortable and beautifully appointed accommodation for a range of different party types, while underfloor central heating and double glazing keep you cosy all year round.
If you can bear to leave the beauty of your immediate surroundings, there are leisurely drives to be taken along the Ardnamurchan peninsula, which is home to many rare plants and animals.
Keep an eye out for pine martens, buzzards, eagles, red deer and even shy wild cats, which all inhabit this lovely mountain wilderness. There are splendid quiet beaches at Ardtoe and Sanna, while from Kilchoan (24 miles) or Lochaline (26 miles) you can cross to Mull for the day (no booking necessary). You can also drive up to Mallaig and cross over to Skye.
Tiny Salen (5 miles) has a pub/hotel, while Strontian (6 miles) has a good general store, a little bistro and several hotels. For serious shopping, Fort William is the answer and is less than an hour away across the Corran Ferry (again, no booking necessary). It also has a leisure centre and golf course and from there it is an easy drive up to Loch Ness and beyond.
Just to the south of the Corran/Ardgour ferry, by which you may well have arrived, is Ballachulish (hotel, shops, golf course) at the entrance to Glencoe. No visit to this part of the world would be complete without a visit to this historic and majestic glen, which is so beloved of climbers and where there is also skiing in winter. Turning east at North Ballachulish (or in Glencoe village if you miss the first turning), will take you round Loch Leven, at the head of which is the Ice Factor, an indoor ice climbing centre and where there is also a famous seafood restaurant.
