Camus is one of a pair of detached, timber-clad modern houses set just off the pretty coastal road between Arisaig and Morar in Lochaber, with the stunning Camusdarach beach only a short stroll away.

Overview

Open plan living is the order of the day here with the comfy seating around the wood-burning stove, dining area and well-equipped kitchen with central island all in together with everything easily to hand. It is a great room for socialising and is very light and bright due to its partly double height ceiling, large windows and sliding glass doors.

An en suite double bedroom and a twin room are also laid out on this level, as well as a utility room and wet room style shower room. It is all kept cosy by luxurious underfloor heating that supplements the wood-burning stove.

Upstairs on the mezzanine level is a spacious dressing area with lots of storage, a contemporary shower room and an airy double bedroom with little ‘port hole’ windows (with shutters) that look down on the sitting room below.

The garden grounds and large parking area to the rear are shared with Camus’ sister property, Darach, that sits alongside.

A patio area to the front provides space for outdoor dining/BBQing and secure storage is available for bikes, kayaks and other sporting equipment. It is easy to head out on walks in the surrounding countryside straight from the door and the quiet roads are great for cyclists.

The gorgeous white sands of Camusdarach beach are only 10 minutes’ walk away so it is an ideal place to spend time walking, beachcombing or sea fishing. It just begs to be explored and as this area benefits from a warm microclimate there are likely to be more beach days than might be expected!

Mallaig (5 miles) has a grocery shop and a couple of eateries to try out with lots of fresh, local seafood. A ferry runs from Mallaig over to Armadale on the delightful Isle of Skye. The crossing only takes half an hour so it is handy for popping over for a day trip either as a foot passenger or taking a bike or car over for further afield exploration of the island.

The Silversands Trekking Centre just along the road offers the unique experience of horse riding along the beach and out into the water, which is really something for the books! Morar (3 miles) is known for the ‘Silver Sands of Morar’, a stunning series of beautiful beaches situated along the banks of the River Moidart that wouldn’t look out of place in the Caribbean with their white sands and sparkling blue waters.

Golfers will enjoy a round at the 9 hole Traigh Golf Course (1.5 miles) that has spectacular sea views to take in along the way as it is set right by Traigh beach. Sea kayaking is available at the Arisaig Sea Kayak Centre (5 miles) with guided kayaking tours that head out for the chance to fully appreciate the impressive scenery of the Arisaig coastline from the water.

Those seeking an adrenalin rush will find plenty to try at the Nevis Range Mountain Resort (43 miles) where there are snowsports over the winter and exhilarating mountain biking trails in the summer months.
