The cottage has been renovated from a “Blackhouse”, the traditional name for a Crofter’s Cottage, into an idyllic home for two. Entering through the kitchen, the cottage then welcomes you further with the wood-burning stove found in the lounge. The dining table is convenient for gazing out towards the front of the cottage, and the bird feeder outside is perfectly placed for watching the beautiful little creatures feeding at any time of day.
The cottage itself is decorated with wonderful wildlife drawings and cosy comforts. The bedroom has a double bed with ample storage underneath and facilities to hang clothes. Adjacent is a tidy ensuite which holds a beautiful view out to the back of the cottage, facing west, ideal for enjoying the west coast sunset.
Outside, the garden is partially enclosed, and there’s parking available for 1 car. Ample outdoor storage for bikes is available to guests, and wood storage can be found around the back of the cottage. The Old Croft House provides outdoor seating available to dine al fresco, cook up a storm on the barbecue, or spend time marvelling at the beautiful west-coast sunset beyond the great Beinn Resipole.
After an adventurous day exploring your surroundings on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, return to your peaceful haven, The Old Croft House.
There's plenty to explore on Ardnamurchan and endless opportunities to experience the indescribable beauty of the west coast of Scotland.
Just below the quiet crofting hamlet of Anaheilt, explore Strontian’s surrounding ancient woods, or follow along the Strontian River to the national nature reserve at Ariundle Oakwoods and find the rare butterflies and dragonflies. Rent a mountain bike in the village and explore the Corbett mountains, go diving in Loch Sunart or spot seals and otters whilst you leisurely Kayak or Canoe on the loch waters.
Everything you’ll need for your stay at The Old Croft House can be purchased from the local convenience store, Strontian Stores, found in the village. Grab fresh bread/ rolls and fresh fruit to pair with your morning fry-up, or purchase some fresh butcher meat to cook up for dinner. Logs and kindling are available to keep your wood-burner happy. Café Sunart, located next to Strontian Stores, is situated nearby in the village and offers a range of items, including tea, coffee, home-baked goods, toasties, sandwiches, baked potatoes, fish and chips and much more.
The Ariundle Centre is a 10-minute walk away and offers a multitude of food, drink and crafting. The sheep at Ariundle Centre provide wool for you to prepare your very own fleece and knit a hat or scarf to keep you cosy in the Highlands.
