Tigh an Eas highlights its rural setting from each main room, making the space feel truly tranquil and relaxing. Laminate floors with underfloor heating make you feel at home immediately. The open-plan wraparound kitchen and living space is great for lounging with loved ones around the electric stove or cooking a hearty meal in the well-equipped kitchen on the Rangemaster cooker. There’s also a snug sofa room with a desk and smart TV for hiding away on cold evenings or watching the magnificent west coast landscapes.
The utility space is ideal for returning to after beach adventures or hiking trips in the beautiful surroundings. The bathroom downstairs is elegant, spacious and features a bath with a shower over and a Bluetooth mirror as an exciting novelty.
The downstairs twin bedroom has a cosy sheep theme where guests will find the perfect night’s rest.
The stairs are fitted with a stylish wool loop carpet that leads to two bedrooms, both with ensuite shower rooms. The master bedroom, or the thistle room, is equipped with a king-size bed and ample hanging space. The blue room also has a king-size bed and plenty of storage.
The enclosed garden is a wildlife garden with a full deer fence, drying area and small patio; it’s also another terrific spot to appreciate your remarkable surroundings. Ample parking can be found adjacent to Tigh an Eas.
Tigh an Eas is close to the sandy shores of the dramatic and peaceful Gruinard Bay, a hidden gem in Wester Ross with plenty of history to discover. Walk from the beautiful sandy bays and hike up a breathtaking glen to Eas Dubh falls, where Tigh an Eas gets its name. 1 mile away is the nearest village, Laide and all its amenities, including a post office, general store and filling station. A stone’s throw from Tigh an Eas, you can paint your own pottery at Prickly Fish.
The NC 500 runs past Tigh an Eas; join in on part of the way or visit the nearby beach on the route, Mellon Udrigle (4 miles), which has beautiful white sandy bays and turquoise waters with extraordinary views across the bay to An Teallach and the mountains on the Coigach peninsula.
Located just half a mile from the coastline, there are plenty of opportunities for water activities. Spot otters and seals lounging on the rocks, try the 2-hour wildlife cruise (running March-October) from Gairloch Harbour (16 miles) where you’ll see whales, seals, dolphins and sea eagles. Book with Ewe Canoe at Mellon Charles for paddling adventures tailored to your ability.
Flowerdale Forest is an unforgettable woodland and valley with fantastic mountain biking trails. Hire your bike from Gairloch and challenge yourself on the trail, taking in the magnificent scenery and wildlife. Or organise a bespoke tour of the wildlife with Wild Ewe Safaris. The subtropical Inverewe Garden at Poolewe is an extremely special place just 9 miles down the road.
The popular tourist village Gairloch (16 miles) has plenty to offer. Hire a bike or E-bike from Gairloch for cycling your way around. Climb Ride Explore can help you plan out your Wester Ross adventures and offer an abundance of exciting activities including paddleboarding, canyoning and coasteering.
Try the Gairloch Golf Club as well as a marvellous links course; the views of the Torridon Mountains, the Isle of Skye and the Western Isles alone are a worthy reason to visit. Hillbillies' bookshop is great for a bit of downtime. A little bit further but well worth the journey is Rua Reidh Lighthouse (28 miles), where you’ll find unforgettable views of the ocean and beyond to Skye, Lewis and Harris and plenty of sea creatures.
The Ocean View Hotel (open April to September) serves delicious food and drink and is 0.4 miles away, along the same lane as Tigh an Eas. Gairloch Museum is a splendid lunch spot where you can immerse yourself in the poetry of William Ross, known as the Robbie Burns of the Highlands.
Also in Gairloch, Gale has a brilliant community-run cafe while Black Pearl Creole Kitchen is excellent for dine-in delicious Caribbean cuisine. Several miles outside of Gairloch is the Badachro Inn (21.5 miles), a little more of a journey but offers memorable vistas of Loch Gairloch and fresh seafood from the local area.
