Overview

Set up perfectly just for two, this is the ideal romantic getaway with an open plan living area at its heart that has everything easily to hand. The kitchen area is set along one wall with dining alongside and comfy seating that has been positioned to make the very most of the great sea views. Open up the large sliding doors to really enjoy the view and feel like you are ‘bringing the outdoors in’.

Further large windows in the attractive double bedroom further showcase the views that can even be enjoyed from bed. From the bedroom there is also direct access out to a charming decked seating area that wraps around the house and there is a smart, modern shower room with a large walk-in shower.

The deck is a lovely spot to sit, relax and take in the picturesque surroundings with a grassed garden to the front that leads down towards the sea shore with wonderful views across the water to the mountains beyond. The owners live next door but the Black Barn is not overlooked and the garden has a nice private feeling to it.

Secure storage is available for bikes if you fancy exploring the island on two wheels and there are laundry facilities in a separate outbuilding.

Map & Local

The ferry from Mallaig in Lochaber arrives into the terminal just down the road at Armadale (2.5 miles) where there is a good stretch of sandy beach in the bay.

Known as the ‘garden of Skye’, the Sleat peninsula has a rich landscape with lots of lush greenery and vegetation. It is also known for its selection of excellent eateries with everything from cafés and pubs to fine dining restaurants.

In the summer the Fèis An Eilein Festival comes to the peninsula with a range of different traditional cultural and arts events spread out over the months of July and August.

There is a shop at Ardvasar (3 miles) for basic groceries, as well as a pub that serves lots of fresh local produce and, in particular, delicious seafood.

Carry on past Ardvasar to Aird of Sleat (6.5 miles) and walk out to the lighthouse at the Point of Sleat (the most southernmost point of the island) where there are gorgeous views across to Mallaig and the sands of Morar. Stop off at Camas Daraich along the way to explore a beautiful, sheltered sandy beach that is one of Skye’s hidden treasures.

Supermarket supplies can be topped up at Broadford (13.5 miles) and the boat trips that run out from Kyleakin (18 miles) are well worth trying for spotting some of Skye’s amazing wildlife including seabirds, seals, otters and dolphins. There is also an interesting ship wreck out in the waters that is fascinating to look at from the safety of the glass-bottomed boat.
