Boat of Garten Golf Course
The Boat of Garten Golf Club is an 18 hole course in Boat of Garten, known as the ‘Hidden Gem of the Highlands’. Boat of Garten is often referred to as the ‘Osprey village’ as it is where osprey were first reintroduced to the UK in the 1950s – they are still in residence to this day at the RSPB Osprey Centre.
The course is only 6,000 yards long and was designed by renowned Scottish architect James Braid, with each hole having been devised to be different and individual. As the course is set by the River Spey in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park the surrounding scenery is nothing short of stunning.
Once a year in September it is one of the courses that form part of the Golf Whisky Trail Golf Week which combines golf on some of the area’s best courses with visits to nearby distilleries.
The course has a practice ground and putting green, as well as an extensive menu in its bar and lounge. The Pro shop is run by PGA professional Ross Harrower, who also gives lessons. There are also two tennis courts if some of your party aren’t golfers.
