Tucked away down a little country lane is Woodend Cottage, a secluded detached cottage set in wonderful rolling countryside on the charming Ashintully Estate near Blairgowrie in Perthshire.

Dating right back to 1891 and with lovely views out over hills and farmland, this is just the place to sit back and appreciate the peaceful surroundings in comfort.
The sitting room is sure to be where everyone gathers to relax around the wood-burning stove and the modern dining area in the kitchen is a delightful spot to enjoy meals together whilst planning activities for the rest of your stay.
The spacious downstairs double bedroom has a king-size bed to stretch out on and an en suite bathroom with the choice of a bath or shower over and there is also a handy utility room and WC on this level. Stairs from the sitting room then lead upstairs to the two generously sized twin bedrooms and a family bathroom.
Outside the enclosed grass garden is 2 miles from the main road so it is nice and tranquil with a patio seating area where meals or evening drinks can be had whilst admiring views of the pretty landscape.
Bikes are provided for guests’ use and there is also secure storage that can be made use of for those preferring to bring their own bikes.
The Ashintully Estate extends to 3,000 acres so there is plenty to get out and about and explore, as well as fishing for brown trout to try out on the estate’s hill loch.
There is a village shop in nearby Kirkmichael (4 miles) and a friendly hotel that has a bar and an excellent restaurant that makes for a welcome break from cooking.
Just on the doorstep is the Cateran Trail, a long distance walking trail that starts in Blairgowrie (15.5 miles) and leads right up to Spittal of Glenshee and back down in a circle. The waymarked route is 64 miles in total or there is a ‘mini trail’ that passes right by the cottage and is only 20 miles long but still quite strenuous in places.
Pitlochry (16 miles) is known for its fish ladder where the salmon can be seen negotiating the dam and Blairgowrie (15.5 miles) has a golf club with the choice of two excellent 18 hole courses, or the 9 hole ‘wee course’. On White Loch near Blairgowrie there is also the opportunity to take an evening beaver safari by kayak to see these wonderful creatures in their natural habitat.
In the winter months snowsports are available at nearby Glenshee (17.5 miles) and in the summer the chairlifts are put to good use transporting walkers, mountain bikers and those on the hunt for the geocaches that are hidden around the resort.

Bed linen and towels are INCLUDED. The first £25 of electricity is INCLUDED with any additional usage payable at the end of your stay. Heating is by electric panel heaters (first £20 INCLUDED with any additional payable at the end of your stay) and wood-burning stove (all logs INCLUDED). WiFi is INCLUDED (subject to a fair usage policy). Water is from a private source which is UV filtered and regularly tested; however (as is typical in many parts of Scotland) it can become discoloured pariticularly after heavy rainfall. Guests may therefore prefer to bring bottled water to drink. A maximum of 2 dogs are welcome (2 large, 2 medium, 2 small). If you wish to bring any other pets please contact us and we will see what we can do. No smoking.
