Within the thick stone walls this charming cottage has been lovingly refurbished and modernised throughout with picture windows that showcase views of the surrounding countryside. The sitting room is warm and inviting with a wood-burning stove at its heart to curl up in front of. From it an open wooden staircase (care should be taken) leads up to the attic that has been converted and turned into a snug with cosy bean bags and an additional TV so that all viewing tastes can be catered for.
The inviting kitchen is a delightful place to gather together for meals with views out towards Movern and a further wood-burning stove in the corner that warms the place through. A little utility room off the kitchen houses the laundry facilities.
The attractive double bedroom has a king-size bed to spread out on and a full length window so the views can be admired even from bed. In the smart twin bedroom the beds can be zipped together to make a super king-size bed. The cottage is laid out all on one level and the bedrooms share a family bathroom that has a bath and a shower over.
There is ample offroad parking in the enclosed garden and to the rear is a gravelled area with a picnic table. Open views south west towards Lochnagar can be enjoyed from the front of the cottage and there is also secure storage in the garage for bikes, etc.
There is plenty to see and do in the rest of the Cairngorms National Park with gorgeous scenery to take in all around, several castles to visit and hundreds of walking trails to explore.
The nearest spot for basic grocery shopping is Tarland (3.5 miles), although Aboyne (6.5 miles) is the place to stock up on supermarket supplies. Walkers can tread the Tarland Way, an easy 6 mile route that runs from Tarland across to Aboyne and mountain biking enthusiasts will enjoy tackling the Tarland Trails just outside the village.
There are some pretty woodland walks with wildlife to spot within the Muir of Dinnet National Nature Reserve (2.5 miles) and its Visitor Centre offers a fascinating insight into how the surrounding landscape was formed. The Burn O Vat waterfall in the reserve is particularly impressive after heavy rainfall and it is possible to climb right into the Vat itself, a huge pothole formed by glaciers thousands of years ago.
Cycle hire is available in Ballater (9 miles) where there is also a very picturesque 18 hole golf course to try out. The wonderful River Dee is world renowned for its salmon fishing and there are beats at Ballater and Aboyne that can be fished from February through to October.
In the winter months there is the choice of skiing/snowboarding at either Glenshee (33 miles) or The Lecht (23.5 miles), where mountain biking is available in the summer months.
