Those holidaymakers who value peace and privacy will find both at Croick Manse. This superbly appointed single storey detached house on the 12,000 acre Croick Estate stands quite alone at the end of the little single track road along Strathcarron from Bonar Bridge (7 miles, with hotel, shops, railway halt), 45 miles north west of Inverness.

Both versatile and very practical for outdoor living, it is also bang up-to-date in terms of comforts, with oil-fired underfloor heating, wood-burning stove in the large, open plan living room, an excellent kitchen area with range cooker, four comfortable bedrooms (two en suite) and a total of three spacious, modern bathrooms.
The house is sheltered by trees on three sides and stands in a huge fenced grass garden, with lovely open views to the front across the river to the heather covered moors and hills which surround the property. There are also two kennels outside where dogs can be left if guests want to go out without them.
The track from the house runs all the way over to Ullapool on the west coast and the adventurous can follow it on foot for 7 miles to Creag Mhor Bothy at the other end of the Estate, where they can spend a night in accommodation rather different from the comforts of the Farmhouse or simply make it the destination for a picnic on a day's walking.
Not only does Croick Manse have something of the atmosphere of a shooting lodge, but guests can also use it as such. Stalking can be arranged by the Estate in season and there is excellent salmon and trout fishing both in the River Blackwater, a tributary of the Carron which runs past the house, but also in several hill lochs on the Estate.
In the unlikely event that guests should tire of these lovely surroundings, Bonar Bridge has a golf course, while within a further 13 miles is the delightful wee town of Dornoch, with its cathedral, excellent eating places, superb beaches and championship links golf course.
About the same distance to the south, towards Inverness, is the Glenmorangie Distillery, offering tours and tastings, while north of Dornoch imposing Dunrobin Castle is well worth a visit. Further afield, the mountains of Torridon and the stunning scenery of the north-west and north coasts are all within driving distance of Bonar Bridge.

Clean and comfortable. Lovely weather too

Had a lovely visit in this lovely cottage.

Fine holiday. The house needs a thorough clean. Just look behind the wardrobe in the en suite bedroom. Hasn't been clean...

Very peaceful. Loads of places to visit nearby like Dornoch, Dunrobin Castle and the drive to Ullapool was spectacular.

Everything went very smooth
