Converted from an old coach house, Corbet Tower Cottage is an elegant and spacious property and a brilliant base for spectacular walking routes. The cottage is situated in the lovely, peaceful grounds of Corbet Tower near Kelso (8 miles) in the Scottish Borders.
Standing in its own fenced rear garden with magnificent views across the valley of the Kale Water to the hills beyond, Corbet Tower Cottage is an excellent base for both a relaxing family holiday and one full of local adventure.
Guests enter the spacious hallway with plenty of room for offloading boots and coats after exploring the beautiful Borders landscapes. A long hallway then leads to the open-plan kitchen/ dining area. The kitchen is well-equipped with facilities and space to cook up a hearty meal. The dining table has ample seating for 6; guests can open the external doors to let the fresh air in and enjoy the beautiful Borders vistas.
The central hallway also leads to the roomy laundry/ utility space, which has an extra sink, a microwave and a washing machine. Adjacent is a separate and convenient WC.
The hidden gem of the property is the splendid upstairs sitting room, where a wood-burning stove efficiently complements the biomass central heating for toasty evenings staying in. A desk, comfy seating and an added dining table make this room the perfect evening spot.
Also upstairs lie two twin bedrooms, a master bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom with a separate shower. The master bedroom has an ensuite including a bath with a shower over. Each room is well decorated, tidy and accustomed to beautiful countryside views. There is parking for several vehicles right at the door of Corbet Tower Cottage, and secure storage can be made available.
The owners' house is about 400 yards away, down through the trees, and guests may use the tennis court by arrangement.

The amenities of the village of Morebattle (including a pub) are within walking distance. In such lovely surroundings, guests will be delighted to explore the countryside around Corbet Tower Cottage. Morebattle Hill is right next door and easy to hike for brilliant views of the rolling border landscapes. For those looking for something a bit more strenuous, the Southern Upland Way passes over the hill in front of the cottage, and the village of Kirk Yetholm (5 miles) stands at the end of the Pennine Way, so you really are spoilt for choice.
Nearby Kelso has an abundance of facilities, including a swimming pool, ice rink, racecourse and an 18-hole golf course. Nearby Floors Castle, the home of the Duke of Roxburghe and the setting for the film 'Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan', is a must-see. Tour the castle, explore the gardens and finish off your day with a bite to eat in the Terrace Café. For a golfing treat, try the prestigious course at SCHLOSS Roxburghe, or you could even make a day of it and head for Luffness and Muirfield.
Fishing permits on the Kale and Bowmont Waters are available to buy at the Morebattle village shop or on the Gala Angling Association website. There are also lots of excellent cycle routes in the area. For a real challenge, drive over to Glentress at Cardrona (40 miles), one of the leading mountain biking centres in Europe, with miles of dedicated forest trails. E-bikes can be hired on site in Glentress or locally to Corbet Tower Cottage in Kelso.
Head into Kelso for a variety of dining options. Scott’s of Kelso is a brilliant French bistro. Try The Contented Vine for delicious Italian Food, or sit in for a coffee and a cake at Café U.
Corbet Tower Cottage is only around 30 miles from the coast, the lovely beach at Coldingham, the seabird centre on the cliffs at St Abbs, historic Berwick-upon-Tweed and Lindisfarne itself (30 miles) are excellent locations to explore. Take a scenic walk on the Lammermuir hills (36 miles) or travel into Edinburgh City Centre (55 miles), just over an hour and a half’s drive, or 55 minutes by train from Tweedbank (22.5 miles).
