Simply yet comfortably furnished, this charming one-bedroom chalet features a bright, open-plan living area. It includes a cosy lounge with a comfortable sofa-bed, a compact and well-equipped kitchen, and a convenient dining space, all designed for relaxed living.
The versatile bedroom can be configured as either a double or twin room, and a shower room completes the practical indoor accommodation. Double-glazing and electric heating ensure guests remain warm and comfortable throughout their stay.
Outside, The Beach House sits within a small, enclosed garden featuring a rear patio overlooking the Winterfield Golf Course — a beautifully maintained 18-hole course. At the front, a welcoming veranda offers spectacular views across the Firth of Forth towards the iconic Bass Rock and the famous "Bridge to Nowhere," which intriguingly stands isolated in the sea at high tide.
Perfectly suited for couples, golfers, and beach lovers alike, The Beach House provides a delightful base for exploring the stunning East Lothian coastline, known for surfing, paddleboarding, wildlife watching, and coastal walks.
Belhaven Bay, part of the John Muir Country Park, offers a vast, golden beach backed by high dunes and swaying Scots Pines. It’s a wildlife-rich haven where seabirds soar overhead, and if you’re lucky, you might catch sight of dolphins just offshore. A scenic cliff-top path leads into Dunbar, passing dramatic sea views and rocky outcrops where gannets, shags and cormorants perch.
Dunbar, the birthplace of conservation pioneer John Muir, is a lively coastal town with plenty to explore. Independent shops line the High Street – from quirky boutiques and a record store to the Crunchy Carrot greengrocers and the ever-popular Sweetie Bank. There's also a great choice of cafés, tea rooms and pubs, plus two fascinating museums that delve into local history and Muir’s enduring legacy.
The town’s historic harbours are overlooked by the striking ruins of Dunbar Castle, once heroically defended by Black Agnes. In summer, the harbours bustle with life – grab fresh seafood from Nautie’s harbour shack or enjoy woodfired pizza from Big Blu on Thursdays. For families, there’s a leisure pool with wave machine and flume, a fantastic park and café at Lauderdale, and train safaris through East Links Family Park to meet llamas and wallabies.
Outdoor enthusiasts and golfers are spoilt for choice. Dunbar has two excellent courses – Winterfield and Open-qualifier Dunbar Golf Club – and nearby championship links at Muirfield, Luffness and Gullane. Walkers can head to Cockburnspath (8 miles), the start of the Southern Upland Way, or tackle Berwick Law above North Berwick (12 miles).
Further along the coast, visit the spectacular cliff-top ruins of Tantallon Castle or the charming gardens of Dirleton Castle. From North Berwick’s harbour, boat trips head out to the Bass Rock and Isle of May, home to thousands of seabirds including puffins and gannets.
Pretty East Linton (6 miles) is also worth a stop, especially to see Preston Mill – a photogenic National Trust site made famous by *Outlander*. For a touch of adventure, explore the tiny fishing village of Cove and its secret beach, hidden at the end of an old smugglers’ tunnel.
And with Edinburgh just 30 miles away and easy rail connections from Dunbar, The Beach House is perfectly placed for exploring the best of East Lothian and beyond.

'Lovely chalet in the most stunning location. We have had a restful time. Dog walking as both dogs loved the beach so there have been a few. Reading and chilling. Explored surrounding area too. Chalet everything we needed. The view was stunning, morning, noon and night.'
'Fantastic week, very pleasant and comfortable accommodation. Fantastic weather added to a wonderful experience.'
'Well that week was over far too soon! Chalet as cosy and well equipped as always. Weather was perfect – Albie (westie) 2nd visit and he has had an absolute ball – usually a lazy pup in the morning but he has been up early every day wanting to be on the beach!'
'Once again The beach House didn’t fail to make our 5th visit most enjoyable. The girls (Abby & Tina) felt at home and enjoyed lots of lovely walks on the beach. The weather was windy the first week but didn’t spoil our time here. Thank you so much.'
'Another wonderful stay at the Beach House, weather very good. Visit to North Berwick well worth it and we saw the dolphins. Thank you.'
'Our 9th stay at the Beach House over the years and we have enjoyed this week as much as our first. Such a great location with the beach House a lovely base. Weather has been very kind to us too. We are going home relaxed and happy with Botley and Riley well exercised and happy too.'
'Another week over far too soon! Some wild and windy days but with some sunshine. Plenty of beach walks enjoyed by Alfie and myself. My 12th visit – looking forward to my 13th. Best wishes.'.
'Almost eleven years since we last stayed in The Beach House. Hopefully won’t be as long until the next time. Still as comfortable and well equipped as we remembered and of course the outlook is still as great as ever, even when the weather turned nasty! Thanks for the great short break.'
