Overview

The cabin itself is a delightful little chalet which stands in its own enclosed garden with glorious, uninterrupted views out over the sea, the Bass Rock and beach both from the garden and from the windows.

Inside, it is as modern and comfortable as can be and has been furnished with an eye to making the very most of all of the space available. This is cleverly achieved in the living area with its cosy sitting area that has light-weight yet comfortable furniture, light wood flooring (very practical for a beach-side location) and a large window that overlooks the beach and provides plenty of light. There is a well-equipped kitchen and dining area that continues the light and airy theme and has again been carefully designed for maximum practicality.

All on one level there are two bedrooms, a double and a twin, the second of which is very compact and is therefore best suited to one/two children or one adult. The shower room has a corner shower with a roomy cubicle. Everything is to hand, so you can have a holiday of maximum relaxation and minimum effort.

Map & Local

In the unlikely event that you should tire of the view, you can walk round the coastal path to nearby Dunbar (1 mile, with all facilities).

For something more strenuous, strike out along the Southern Upland Way which ends at Cockburnspath, eight miles down the road. On the way, you can visit Tantallon Castle, or heading in the other direction, Dirleton Castle with its beautiful gardens.

North Berwick (13 miles) is a delightful holiday town, dominated by the volcanic plug of Berwick Law and its twin, the Bass Rock, one of the principal bird sanctuaries in Britain and home to many thousands of seabirds. You can take boat trips out to view them, or do so from the warmth and comfort of the Scottish Seabird Centre, where there is plenty to keep both adults and children amused on a rainy day.

The Museum of Flight at nearby East Fortune is another family attraction. This area is also golf heaven, with Muirfield, Luffness, Archerfield and more courses than you can shake a stick at within a few miles radius.

No visit would be complete without a day in Edinburgh, so easily accessible on the train from Dunbar, or the bus from the end of the road. You can do all the sights and some shopping and be home in time for a relaxing drink on the terrace, to the sound of the waves on the shore while watching a splendid sunset.
