Island View is a luxurious, detached house set in an acre of private, enclosed gardens with huge picture windows that show off its spectacular sea views, on the coast of the magical Isle of Seil in Argyll.
Newly renovated and beautifully presented throughout, the owners have thoughtfully provided everything needed for a truly memorable holiday. Cosy nights can be spent relaxing in comfort on the sofas by the wood-burning stove and chairs positioned by the large picture window ensure that the stunning vista can be appreciated whatever the weather. Binoculars have been provided for a closer look at the oyster catchers and curlews that wade along the shoreline. Keep an eye out for the sea eagles and golden eagles that can often be spotted!
The fabulous coastal location is particularly evident in the dining room where incredible uninterrupted views out over the garden to the sea and islands beyond are showcased. Tasty dishes can be whipped up in the bright country kitchen that is very well equipped and muddy shoes can be kicked off in the handy little boot room where there are hooks for drying coats, etc.
The lovely downstairs twin bedroom is practical for those of limited mobility as it has an en suite shower room with a large, walk-in shower and the cottage also has a convenient ramp to the front door for easy access. Upstairs there are two spacious, bright bedrooms that are both en suite with king-size beds and charming window seats where the gorgeous outlook can be admired whilst snuggled up with a cosy blanket, a cup of tea and a good book.
A delightful deck is laid out by the front door with a picnic area that is perfectly primed for enjoying the idyllic situation when dining outdoors or enjoying a BBQ. Guests may well find it hard to tear themselves away from this peaceful haven at the end of their stay.
Please note: The house has a maximum occupancy of 6 people and is not suitable for children under the age of 8.
There are many interesting walks straight from the door so it is easy to get out exploring the island. It is only a 5 minute drive to the shop in Balvicar for groceries or, alternatively, stock up at one of the supermarkets in Oban en route to the cottage.
Boat trips run from Clachan Seil (0.5 miles) offering the chance to see red deer, golden eagles, sea eagles, dolphins, porpoises, seals and even minke whales and basking sharks. Another ‘must do’ for the agenda is an exhilarating trip out on one of the open RIBs that venture out from Ellenabeich (3 miles) to the famous Corryvreckan whirlpool that is the third largest whirlpool in the world!
Kayaking, hiking, cycling, fishing and golf on Seil’s 9-hole course can all be tried as well as cycling on the quiet, single track roads that meander around the island or on the nearby mountain biking trails.
Crossing over the picturesque, hump-back Clachan Bridge known as the ‘Bridge over the Atlantic’ to the mainland may sound like quite a trek but is actually only 300 foot across! An excellent pub is set right alongside making an ideal stop off point for a meal on the way back over to discover the delights of Argyll.
As Oban (16 miles) is a central ferry hub it easily facilitates further exploration of islands such as Kerrera, Lismore, Mull and Iona for a day trip or more distant islands (such as Coll, Tiree, Colonsay and the Outer Hebrides) to extend the holiday after leaving Island View.

Beautiful house, comfortable, warm and well equipped. Attention to detail superb and a friendly, warm host. Enjoyed beautiful surrounding, wildlife and gentle walks. Great meals at Tigh An Truish (mussels to die for and hake) also Ee Usk. Hope to come again. Many thanks.'
'This house is just perfect! A testament to the many hours of hard graft put in by our hosts. The location and tranquillity speak for themselves… Do take the walk mentioned in the visitors’ book taking the path to the right just past the barn. After 10-15 mins, you will get spectacular views over to Mull and beyond. So many things to see and do in the area.'

'Being at Island View, you can see so many animals because there is so much space in the garden but you can see robins, swallows, eagles, pheasants, sea birds and rabbits. It’s so peaceful and beautiful in the garden and so calm and spacious in both places.'
