Great Mountain Biking Meets Great Accommodation at Glentress Cottage

We have perfect self-catering holiday accommodation for mountain bikers at Glentress Cottage near Peebles. Tucked away in the Scottish Borders countryside, the cottage is right next to the renowned 7stanes centre at Glentress and is also only 5 miles from another at Innerleithen.

Glentress Trails

Glentress is known as one of the best mountain biking centres in Europe and is only a couple of minutes ride away from the cottage. It offers lots of singletrack of all grades and excellent Green and Blue Routes. The Red Route includes the famous Spooky Wood descent, while the Black Route at 30km long and with an 800 metre climb is an epic ride into the depth of the forest. The centre also has showers, changing rooms, a bike shop/hire centre and an excellent café.

Just down the road a tarmac cycleway leads to another 7stanes centre at Innerleithen. It has four waymarked ways with fast flowing singletrack, lots of climbing and plenty of jumps and thrills. There is also a red-graded XC route that is not for the faint hearted.

After a day of mountain biking, guests will be sure to love the comfort and style Glentress Cottage has for them to return to in the evening. The large sitting/dining room has plenty of cosy seating around a wood-burning stove and there is also an inviting sunroom with lovely views of the surrounding hills.

The Cosy Sitting Room

The kitchen is very well-equipped with lots of space for cooking and there is a Steak House restaurant in easy walking distance for nights off from cooking. The cottage sleeps up to 8 people in total with a double bedroom and shower room downstairs and two further double bedrooms (one en suite) and a twin room upstairs.

Outside, the cottage is set in its own enclosed grassed garden with a large patio area and a shed that provides secure bike storage.

There is a golf course and spa just 2 miles down the road at Cardrona and fishing for salmon is available on the River Tweed there. Nearby Peebles is a bustling town with supermarkets and plenty of small independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs.
