Beautiful Countryside to Explore
Fort William is the main town, nestled in the shadow of Ben Nevis, another must for climbers, mountain bikers and skiers. To the west is the Road to the Isles winding past Glenfinnan, where Prince Charlie raised his standard for the '45 rebellion, to the silver sands of Arisaig and Morar. The area also encompasses Ardnamurchan, that wild and lovely peninsula stretching to the westernmost point of mainland Britain.

The Herdsman's Cottage is immaculate, comfortably appointed, set in a lovely, peaceful, tranquil country setting, complete with lovely cows and sheep grazing in neighboring fields. We loved the sitting area, around the wood stove fire. We stayed seven nights, and found the location ideal for day trips to many wonderful natural and historic sites. The cottage's owner kindly paid us a visit, and we enjoyed meeting them and attending a historic nearby church with them, enriching our experience in an unforgettable way. | |
