Live Like Lord and Lady of the Manor at Linthill House
Set amid the extensive parkland of a country estate, just 6 miles from Melrose in the Scottish Borders, is the impressive Linthill House. Available from spring 2016, this much-loved family home has been refurbished and made into a delightful holiday home for those who appreciate a taste of gracious living in beautiful surroundings.
Linthill is a truly beautiful setting for a family gathering or a holiday with a group of friends. It dates back to the 18th century and is elegant and refined throughout, with many of its original features. Guests are welcomed by the grand entrance hall that sets the scene for the grandeur of the rest of the house and has a sprung floor for dancing, or maybe even a Ceilidh.
The charming drawing room has a lovely open fire and there is a spacious, well-equipped kitchen. The owners can even arrange outside catering and housekeeping so guests can really sit back, relax and enjoy their break.
The formal dining room seats up to 16 people and there is a magnificent billiard room with a full size snooker table that both adults and children are sure to love. Upstairs are various bedrooms and suites and there is the choice of staying in the north, east, south or west wings!
Guests have access to the grounds surrounding the house that extend to over 100 acres. There is a particularly pretty riverside walk that leads to a little hump-backed wooden footbridge and fishing for trout is available in the Ale Water within the grounds.
From the end of the house’s drive it is just a 10 minute stroll into the nearby village of Lilliesleaf where there are two pubs and a restaurant to choose from. Melrose is just 6 miles way and with its ruined abbey, many interesting shops and superb range of eating places, it will cater for most needs. It is also home of the annual Melrose Sevens event in April that draws in teams and spectators and from all over the world.
A week’s stay at Linthill House starts at £1,795 for up to 16 people.
