Argyll
Argyll provides a wealth of different attractions, including many long sea lochs. The Isle of Mull, in particular, is a truly magical place that is reached by ferry.
Lochaber/Ardnamurchan
Lochaber is a stunning area of mountains, glens and sea inlets, with the lovely Ardnamurchan peninsula stretching to the westernmost point of the UK.
Isles of Skye & Rasaay
The Isle of Skye, with its delightful satellite Raasay, is surely the best known of all the Scottish islands and is a mecca for climbers, walkers and sailors.
Lochalsh/Wester Ross
The Lochalsh and Wester Ross area has magnificent mountain ranges, picturesque fishing villages and some of the most remote and unspoilt land in the UK.
The Outer Hebrides
This spectacular group of islands, including Lewis and Harris and the Uists, provides the most memorable of holiday experiences and some fabulous beaches.
The Western Isles are also known as the Outer Hebrides or the Gaelic 'Na h-Eileanan an Iar' (for many of the locals, Gaelic is their first language) and consist of 130 miles of many large and small islands - from Lewis and Harris in the north to Uist and Barra in the south.
These islands can be accessed by ferry or by plane to airports at Stornoway, Benbecula and Barra. Ferries run from Ullapool to Stornoway, Uig (Skye) to Lochmaddy in North Uist and Tarbert on Harris and from Oban to Castlebay on Barra and Lochboisdale on South Uist.
